"Explore The Magic" is theme for Children's Theater Summer Camp Sunny D Children's Theater 2006 Summer Camp will be June 12-23, Monday thru Friday from 9-12. Fees are $125 per two-week session. Ages 5-8 are offered two, one-week sessions at $65 per week or $125 for the two-week session. The option of one week is ONLY for the 5-8 age group. In its fifth season, Sunny D Children's Theater Summer Camp is a unique summer program where children entering grades 1-12 experience the magical world of theater arts. This year's Summer Camp offers a well-rounded experience to challenge and encourage artistic and personal growth. With a maximum enrollment of 75 students (average of 25 students per classroom), we have supervised check-in and check-out and lots of one-on-one attention. Students are trained in all the best areas of theatre including: Acting, Improv, Playwriting, Pantomime, Voice, Movement and Technical. Held at the spacious Kiwanis Club in Blue Ridge, the camp will allow kids to develop acting skills including speech, expression, improvisation and performance. Meet the Director: This year's Executive Director of Summer Camp is Dena Malon, who was born and raised in New York City. She received her B.A. in Theatre/Communication at Hunter College, City University of New York and then went on to study at the Boston Conservatory of Music. She completed her Waldorf teacher training in 1999 at Sunbridge College. A reception for Ms. Malon will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Kiwanis Fairground. Dena's theater experience includes serving as Artistic Director for a theatre company for 15 years. She wrote and directed plays acted and trained teachers on how to integrate drama into school curricula. Dena is currently appearing in Atlanta's 7 Stages production of Nickle and Dime. She has two sons, one of whom graduated from Waldorf School of Atlanta (WSA) and is a junior at Decatur High School, and the other is a student at Renfroe Middle School. Dena's passion is theater - and teaching others to teach acting. Her philosophy is that each person is unique, and her goal is get them to recognize build on that uniqueness to make them what they want to be. She truly brings insight, creativity and enthusiasm to our Summer Camp!
