VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

June 2008

JODE HANSON

Jode came to the theater at the beginning of Lend Me A Tenor and stepped right in as stage manager.  The stage manager is a critical position of any production and Jode quickly took over the responsibility of props, costumes,, and most importantly, the actors.

Jode then volunteered for the marketing committee and has been active in assisting our theater get out the word about us!

Thank you Jode for all your hard work and dedication to BRCT!

BOB JENNUS

Sitting with the marketing (bulletin) boards.  Bob Jennus has been volunteering for our set building crew since he and his wife, Mary, moved to their retirement here.  Bob was manufacturing plant manager for Jim Walter Home building materials.  Bob is a set project leader and has a great home shop!  A Big Thank You and Grand Applause Bob from BRCT!

April 2008

Beth Inman

Beth came to the Blue Ridge Community Theater over a year ago and we have been wondering how we got along without her ever since. Apart from gracing our stage with her fabulous singing and acting talent, she is one of about four volunteers who have totally cleaned out and organized the prop and costume rooms, which was no small undertaking. There hasn’t been a set done in the time Beth has been with us that didn’t have her painting brushstroke on it and she has consistently been one of those volunteers that seems to be there to help every time one turns around. Her positive attitude and easy going nature make her a sheer joy to work with and a true asset to our theater.

Beth (Bethie) lived in Atlanta before moving to Fannin County full time two years ago after retiring from many years as a Special Education teacher. “There are those that attest she has been performing all my life”, she says. “Now I have a legitimate outlet.” Beth sang with the Atlanta Show Chorus for six years.

March 2008

Anne Record
Costume Design

Anne started volunteering with us almost three years ago when she offered to help with costumes on "The Velveteen Rabbit".  She has been an active member ever since and has filled in the gaps in every volunteer situation.

A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE and SINCERE THANK YOU, ANN!

The Blue Ridge Community Theater is run by a dedicated group of volunteers.  These volunteers may or may not have training in theater.  The common thread that brings them together is a love of theater and the desire to make the community aware of the magic of theater.

This is our seventh season of bringing live Theater to our community.  This is our fifth season in this house.  We have over-reached and over-achieved far more than we dared to dream.  We depend on volunteers.  Almost everything is volunteered, donated and/or sponsored.  We are now doing more live theater than ever!  We need your help.  We're looking for contributions of all talents and energies.

You don't have to know how to direct, how to act or how to sing.  You don't even have to know how to turn on a computer!  What we need is your ideas and your talent.  We need behind-the-scenes help with costumes, props, distributing flyers, selling ads, and other things.  If you have a few hours a week, join us and share your ideas.  You won't believe all the work and preparation that goes into a production.

Blue Ridge Community Theater is seeking new people and new energy.   We always need actors; And, we need active volunteers for many of our committees.
