🎭 Blue Ridge Community Theater Launches the Berkman New Play Contest!

Blue Ridge Community Theater is thrilled to announce its first-ever New Play Contest and Reading Series—the Berkman Series, proudly named in honor of long-time supporters Norma & Michael Berkman.

This exciting new initiative is designed to spotlight fresh voices in theater and enrich the cultural landscape of north Georgia and beyond. Supported by a grant from the Community Foundation of North Georgia, the contest invites playwrights from Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina (with special consideration for north Georgia writers) to submit their work.

Selected playwrights will receive a $300 stipend and the opportunity to bring their words to life through rehearsals, staged readings, and live talk-backs at BRCT’s Black Box Theater. The winning plays will be performed in late Fall, with readings presented on a “Pay What You Want” basis—making bold new theater accessible to everyone.

We’re looking for original, unpublished works of any length or subject matter. (Please note: no musicals or children’s plays at this time.) Submissions must be in PDF format and blind (no identifying information on the script itself).
