About the Show

How do you speak your mind when you can’t say a word? In Small Mouth Sounds by Bess Wohl, six strangers leave behind their chaotic lives to attend a silent retreat in the woods. Struggling with heartbreak, loss, and longing, they discover that silence can be just as funny, awkward, and revealing as words. Through small gestures and unspoken truths, the play delivers laugh-out-loud comedy alongside moments of deep poignancy.

Praised by critics for its originality and heart, Small Mouth Sounds was named one of The New York Times’ “Best of Theater” in 2016 and has captivated audiences across the country with its unique blend of humor and humanity.
