About the Show

Disney’s Freaky Friday is a heartfelt and hilarious musical about learning to walk in someone else’s shoes—literally. When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they’re forced to spend a day living each other’s lives. Chaos, comedy, and heartfelt moments ensue as they struggle through high school, work, and family drama, only to discover the deep love and understanding that bonds them together. With a modern pop-rock score by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and Brian Yorkey (If/Then), Freaky Friday delivers big laughs, catchy songs, and touching lessons about empathy and family.

Premiering in 2016, the stage adaptation earned critical praise for its energetic score and family-friendly charm. While it did not win major awards, the creative team behind it are Tony and Pulitzer Prize winners, giving the show its strong theatrical pedigree.
