About the Show
The Miracle Worker by William Gibson is a powerful and inspiring true story of determination, communication, and triumph over adversity. Set in the 1880s, it tells the story of young Helen Keller, blind and deaf since infancy, and her extraordinary teacher, Annie Sullivan. With fierce dedication and unshakable resolve, Annie breaks through the silence and darkness surrounding Helen’s world, teaching her the gift of language and opening the door to connection. Through moments of frustration, breakthrough, and ultimate joy, The Miracle Worker celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of education and perseverance.
The play premiered on Broadway in 1959, earning widespread acclaim. It went on to win five Tony Awards, including Best Play, and its 1962 film adaptation won two Academy Awards, cementing its place as one of the most beloved and enduring American dramas.
